Matthew always makes out our menus and goes grocery shopping on Saturday morning with Biggie.  I usually stay home and get to sleep in.  A few weeks ago I went with them to help carry everything up our three flights of stairs.  Every woman working there had to stop and chat with him, and say "Oh, you have the whole family out today!"  I felt like my presence was cramping his style.

Today I went to pick up some milk and goldfish crackers, and the cashier took one look at Biggie and said "Where's your hubby today-at work?"

They're going to be heartbroken when they find out we're moving.

We figured out where the glitter was coming from in Biggie's hair.  He was playing with my anniversary card from Matthew.  Since this was our third anniversary, we got each other leather gifts.  He gave me a journal and a necklace, and I gave him a belt.  We like giving each other presents based on the traditional gifts theme.  See, I'm easing him into it, because the first presents are cheap, paper, cotton, leather.  Then BAM!  Before he knows it, Silver!  Gold!  Rubies!

So I was in Royal Farms yesterday and I was overwhelmed with love for Matthew, as I get sometimes, so I wanted to buy him his favorite ice cream.  He had bought Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey a few weeks ago, but told me he had meant to get Chubby Hubby instead.  So I grabbed Chubby Hubby and Rum Raisin.  But when I went home and put them in the freezer, I saw it had transmogrified into Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough instead.

Mom called me today and told me she found my college diploma and  is mailing it to me.  When I get it, I'm applying it directly to my forehead.

Oh hey, I'm home.  I've got all my days confused because we had Monday off.  I think I stepped on a tiny piece of glass last night.  I couldn't get it out with tweezers, so Matthew consulted the internet and wrapped my foot in a concoction of baking soda and duct tape.  he says I have to wear it for 24 hours.  I hope this is not an elaborate prank.  I feel like such a huge whiny baby, but it hurts every time I put weight on it!  I can't go on this way.

The flights went well with the baby.  Both flights were sold out, so we had to share our three-seat row with someone each time.  On the flight out, Biggie nursed and went to sleep before the plane was in the air, and slept the entire time.  Perfect!  On the way out he wouldn't sleep, and kept popping over the back of the seat to say hello to all the people behind us, but otherwise was happy.

I ate so much.  I love Shoney's.  All you can eat breakfast buffet!  Our waitress at Cracker Barrel was named Sunshine.  Biggie made a huge mess while he was there, scattering goldfish crackers around in a 10 mile radius from his highchair.  He was mostly well behaved at the restaurants we went to.  Maybe we can start going out again!

This was the first time my father-in-law and brother-in-law got to see Biggie.   He also got to meet Matthew's dog Dixie, who is now his Dad's, considering he left him there 8 years ago when he moved to Baltimore.  He really started to warm to the dog, even getting to the point where he was chasing him around patting him.

I'm glad we finally got him out there for a visit, but next time we're going during a cooler season.  Not that it was any hotter than here, but since we were on vacation, it would have been nice to be outside more and see the sights.

I made $40 on Mechanical Turk last month!  That's the most ever.  I was only going there once a week, but then I realized that all the high paying surveys were going fast, so I decided to check once a day and I brought in a lot.  I made $6 on one survey that was trying to simulate how people decide what job offer to accept.  I usually only do the academic surveys, and avoid the obviously spammy ones where people want you to go to a website and enter your e-mail.

I always just leave all my money in my Amazon account, but you can also chose to have the money deposited in your bank account.  I thought I should mention it here because I know some of my friends are SAHMs looking for a little extra cash.  No one will get rich or even a weekly salary there, but its something I can do for an hour during Biggie's naps and make some extra cash for birthday presents.

We're in the midst of our month o'birthdays here.  I turned 29 on Sunday,  and Matthew and two of my brothers have birthdays next week.  29 is special to me because that's the age Matthew was when I met him (I was 22 then).  I'm not freaking out about almost being out of my 20s because he will always be older than me. Ha!

Continuing our cupcake theme, for my birthday we had ice cream cupcakes from Cold Stone Creamery.  My favorite part was the chocolate cup the ice cream and cake was in.  Matthew took Biggie for the day and I just lolled around doing nothing.  It was everything I wished for and more.

We got Matthew's prize for being employee of the month in the mail.  It was really neat!  It was movie themed, so it had a DVD of Talledega Nights, microwave popcorn, a $100 Discover card, and a gift card for Regal Cinemas.  It also had a subscription to Entertainment Weekly, but since we already get it, we're giving it to my Dad for Father's Day.

I'm glad they're appreciating him at this job.  He works really hard and, although I don't know much about computer programming, I know he's really creative and good at problem-solving.  He works hard until he finds a solution.  Plus he has fishing buddies there.  So I think he's going to stay there for a while.

Boo!

Matthew changed my desktop to a picture of my desktop, so I was vainly clicking on my firefox icon until he fixed it back for me.

And I was totally fooled by ThinkGeek.  I wanted a bacon doll for Biggie.

I'm up washing the diapers. This guide is a lie.  It said that if I bought 36 diapers I could wash every three days.  I'm washing every two days and even then sometimes I run out.  But I'm sure that guide is assuming that one has access to a dryer.  It takes 24 hours for the prefolds to dry on our drying rack.  I miss the warm weather when I could dry them on the line.  Aunt Jody bought us more diapers for Christmas, so I just have to wait to get them in the mail.

Christmas was very sweet.  Biggie's biggest gift was a jumperoo from his Grandpa.  Matthew was so excited to get it he put it together and gave it to him three days early.  "The reviews on Amazon said their babies would jump in it for hours until they fall asleep" he said.  "It will give us alone time!"

"Yeah, and other people's babies fall asleep in swings, while our just looks ticked off when we put him in it," I said.  I was right.  He does like it-he jumps and careems wildly in it while the thing flashes lights and makes music.  But he's done after about 15 minutes.

Photobucket

He enjoyed chewing on the wrapping paper but wasn't big on tearing it.  A second tooth had joined the first one on his bottom gum!

We went to Mass on Christmas day.  I like Christmas day Mass better than the day before, especially since all the churches around here have wussed out and made Midnight Mass at 9 pm.  What is up with that?  On Christmas day there are always enough seats and I don't have to get there an hour before.  I welcome all the twice a year Catholics, but I'm just not up to fighting the crowds anymore.

Matthew got me all of my favorite things.  Its like...he knows me.  My favorite is the deluxe edition of Star Trek that comes in a replica of the U.S.S. Enterprise.  Little did they know when they designed it over 40 years ago that the bridge would be the perfect shape to hold DVDs.

I enjoyed not having to make a big production or hide the presents this year.  I figure I have one more year before Biggie is aware of it all.

Sick

I'm so ticked off that I'm sick. Being sick is never worth it. Now faking being sick, that's sometimes worth it. I had to text my friend Amy at 1 in the morning on Friday, hoping she would get the message in time before she came down to visit. Luckily she was able to get a full refund from Amtrak (yay trains!). I was really looking forward to seeing her. I was going up to Gettysburg last week to see Robbie too, and I had to cancel that as well.

Matthew took Friday off from work to take care of me and Biggie. He mostly took the baby so I could sleep. I think that was probably the most he's had to care for him since August, and he was exhausted.

Biggie is talking now. Sometimes he'll talk for five minutes at a time with us. But his side of the conversation consists solely of him saying, "Oh, OH, oooh, oh, oh oh!"

35 Weeks

Daddy's home! Daddy's home! He finished his out-processing and made it back home last night. They let my Mom and Emerald go right up to the gate to meet him, and a local welcoming committee turned out to thank him for his service. Just for him, too, because he was an individual replacement. Emerald had him come to school in his uniform today, and all the little boys in her class were most impressed.

I won't get to see him until after the baby comes, but its nice that I'll be able to talk to him on the phone again and that he's home. He's one of my favorite people, and I'm glad he made it back from Iraq in time for Father's Day.

My father-to-be is working himself like a dog right now. They gave him a comp day today because he had to work all last weekend and Wednesday night. He's planning on taking two weeks vacation off when the baby's born, and I think all his bosses (he has several) want him to finish his projects before he's away.

I asked him if he was sure he wanted to take all his vacation time then, or if he should save it for visiting family. "No, I want to be home with my new baby!" He said. It struck me, because I've been a little narcissistic and I haven't really realized how this is his baby too, and its not just my life that will be changing.

I went for an ultrasound yesterday. The baby is looking great, and they told me I don't have to come back anymore! Woo-hoo, everything is normal. This time they had 3-D images. I've always been kind of freaked out by them, because their skin looks melted or something, but when it was my baby, they were the most adorable things in the world

Five years

Five years ago today, Matthew took me out on our first date.  I was so excited and nervous that he had asked me out, I could barely put two words together.  Two weeks later I told him I loved him and he told me he wanted to marry me someday, and that was pretty much it for the both of us.

We went back to the Helmand, which we haven't gone back together to since that date.  I don't know why, its very delicious.  But its downtown and Matthew hates parking there.  Plus its always crowded so you have to plan ahead and make reservations.  I tried the baby pumpkin appetizer, which every review praised but I wasn't so sure I'd like, but wow!  It was so fantastic!  The pumpkin had brown sugar in it, and then they put garlic yogurt over it, which you wouldn't think would work, but it totally did.

And then I had lamb kebob.  It was a party in my mouth.

It's great!  Matthew and I only were in the same city for four months in the four years we were dating, so actually living in the same apartment was a big change.  I have the best husband in the world.  He is so giving, loving and a great cook.

Happy anniversary!
